THE Legislative Assembly continued to host visits  from schools in Tonga as part of its outreach programme.

More than 20 students of Kanokupolu Government Primary School visited the Legislative Assembly last Friday.

Peacecorp volunteer and a class six English teacher of Kanokupolu, Tynesha Woolfork said their tour aimed to further equipped students with better knowledge on Parliament.

Education Assistant Officers Siaosi Vete and Heti Lui warmly welcomed the visitors. Mr. Vete briefed them on the roles and functions of Parliament.

Their trip is part of class 5 & 6 English class exercise where Parliament was picked for their essay writing topic.

Students visited the Chamber where the actual House proceedings take place.

In the question and answer session, students did not know who the Speaker of the House neither the Prime Minister.

Tynesha Woolfork and fellow teacher Ika Hehengitau also expressed gratefulness for the opportunity to allow students to visit Parliament.

Parliamentary resources like MPs profile, legislation process and other materials were given to students to aid them with their essay writing.
