The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga, Lord Fakafanua called upon the international community to work together and to continue efforts to build peace, trust, reconciliation, and mutual respect.

Lord Fakafanua made the call during the World Summit 2022, in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, on 10–14 February 2022, under the theme “Toward Peace on the Korean Peninsula” hosted by the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) “World Summit 2022”.

Lord Fakafanua who took part via zoom assured Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, the Co-Founder of the Universal Peace Federation that “their journey towards peace on the Korean Peninsula is a shared journey and leaders are here to support as their global family.

Lord Fakafanua said the support that the UPF has mobilized, evident today with the thousands of expert delegates from all around the world, has already answered the call to the urgent need for innovative vision and bold leadership. “

He added, “peace is not just the destination, peace is also the journey. That journey has seen the UPF make progressive steps towards this vision since the armistice after the Korean War. It said that his sincere hope and prayer that peace will be achieved for the Korean Peninsula very soon
