Addressing Food Security and Cyber-Security
The second day of the conference began with a focused examination of the Pacific Islands' food security challenges. Panelists discussed the dual pressures of internal factors such as climate change—which exacerbates soil degradation and erratic weather patterns—and external factors including global market volatility and reliance on imported food. These issues combine to create a precarious situation for local food systems.
Today, I wish to congratulate the Youth of Tonga as they celebrate and commemorate International Youth Day 2024. This year’s theme focuses on the topic “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development”.
On July 31st, 2024, we had the honour of hosting Ms. Erika Moritsugu, Deputy Assistant to President Biden and First Asian American & Pacific Islander Senior Liaison for the White House, for a virtual talanoa / dialogue with ten Take the Lead Youth Leaders from our She Leads Parliament Alumni.
