Tuesday 11 April - Lord Fakafanua, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of attended the Global Young MP Initiative 2023 at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington, D.C. This meeting is for Members of Parliament aged 40 and younger from around the world and more than 30 young Members of Parliament from various countries attended the meeting discussing "Safeguarding the World's Future. The Environment and Social Framework" focusing on the World Bank Environmental and Social Framework (ESF).

 THE Legislative Assembly has approved three Public Bills submitted for urgent discussion in Parliament yesterday.

 This includes the Retirement Fund Amendment Bill 2023, Retirement Fund Board Amendment Bill 2023 and District and Town Officers Amendment Bill 2023.

THE Legislative Assembly has unanimously approved the establishment of a Select Committee and its terms of reference for reviewing and propose information that is needed to be included in the government’s annual reports, that is submitted to Parliament.  

A District and Town Officers Amendment Bill 2023 tabled in Parliament today has been referred for further consideration in the Legislation Standing Committee.
