The Prime Minister Hon. Hu’akavameiliku has renewed the Declaration of a Sate of Emergency that was made on the 17th of January 2022, to be applied over all land and sea areas of Tonga commencing Monday 14 February 2022 at 8pm until Monday 14 March 2022, 8pm.

The Legislative Assembly has appointed Tongatapu No. 1 Noble Representative Lord Vaea as the newly elected Whole House Committee Chairperson.
The official opening of the Legislative Assembly by His Majesty King Tupou VI, which was to be held tomorrow, Thursday 6 January, is now postponed to Tuesday 11 January.
His Majesty King Tupou VI will officially open the first session of the new parliamentary term this Thursday, 6th of January.
