WITH only two weeks away from the Rugby World Cup, Reverend Tevita Latailakepa has been named as the new Chairman for Tonga Rugby Union Board (TRUB).
The Honourable Minister of Finance Hon. Sunia Fili announced this in Parliament today.
He made the remarks after confirming that Rev. Latailakepa has accepted the new post wholeheartedly.
Hon. Fili also conveyed to the House, Latailakepa’s plea to Parliament.
“He is asking members of Parliament to support him and the ‘Ikale Tahi in their preparation to play against the All Blacks in New Zealand,” explained the Honourable Minister.
Hon. Fili says he (Rev. Latailakepa) is a Minister and we completely trust him to lead Tonga’s national rugby team.
Rev. Latailakepa replaces Bob Tuckey who resigned at the weekend over his differences with the team’s coach.
The ‘Ikale Tahi team leaves Tonga for the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand on September 5th.
