Nuku‘alofa, Tonga – November 10, 2016 THE Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD) invited Lord Fusitu’a and Hon. ‘Akosita Lavulavu to the 11th Women Ministers and Parliamentarians’ Conference held at Bangkok, Thailand from 4-5 November, 2016.

The overarching theme of this Conference was Ensuring Gender Equality and Women’s Empowering from a Life-Cycle Approach Leaving No Girls and No Women Behind.

Nuku‘alofa, Tonga – October 4, 2016 THE Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD) and New Zealand Parliamentarians Group on Population and Development (NZPPD) jointly invited the Lord Speaker, Lord Tu’ivakano and the Minister of Health, Hon. Saia Mau Piukala to the AFPPD-NZPPD Agenda 2030 Workshop for Pacific Parliaments on Prioritizing the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Agenda in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) held at Wellington, New Zealand on 28-29 September 2016.

On 20-23 September, Hon. Lord Tu’ivakano, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga attended the 2016 Commemoration for the International Day of Peace in Yinchuan, Ningxia, China. H.E. Mr. Li Yuanchao, Vice President of the People’s Republic of China and distinguished guests from over 33 countries around the world were present for the event.

THE Commonwealth Secretariat has invited the Niuas Noble Representative to participate as a panelist and to speak on climate change and migration during a side event in the margins of the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States on Sunday, September 18, 2016.
