The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga Lord Fakafanua is among Young Leaders taking part in the 21st IISS Shangri-La Dialogue and Southeast Asian Young Leaders’ Programme.
The IISS Shangri-La Dialogue will convene in Singapore from the evening of Friday 31 May to the afternoon of Sunday 2 June 2024. The summit marks the 21st edition of the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue.
Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., President of the Philippines, will deliver the Keynote Address at the Opening Dinner on Friday evening. Since 2002, the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue has grown into the pre-eminent security forum in Asia, and a critical platform for discussing and solving pressing regional challenges.
This year’s Dialogue takes place against a backdrop of ever-greater focus on Asia-Pacific security. The IISS Shangri-La Dialogue expects to attract strong participation from defence ministers, national security advisers, military leaders and senior defence officials from more than 40 countries. The 21st IISS Shangri-La Dialogue includes more special sessions, as well as the traditional plenary sessions covering a range of critical themes.
Lord Fakafanua will participate as a full delegate in all of the Dialogue’s plenary and special sessions and will attend seminars and exclusive networking sessions for Young
Leaders with global decision-makers and fellow strategic thinkers.
