Members of Parliament are placing a strong emphasis on school engagements this year to enhance education in their respective electorates.

In Ha’apai 13, MP Hon. Veivosa Taka recently donated seven computers to Taufa’ahau and Pilolevu College, along with four PCs for Tailulu College, totaling over TOP $9,700. Earlier this week, Nomuka Government Primary School also received four PCs from the MP.

In Vava’u 15, MP Hon. Samiu Vaipulu, alongside Noble Representative Lord Tu’i’afitu, donated a photocopier, ink cartridges, and foolscap to Fangatongo Government Primary School in Neiafu, as well as laptops for GMS Liviela and GMS Ha’akoka.

Hon. Tevita Puloka, the MP for Tongatapu 1, met with teachers at Kolomotu’a Government Middle School and Akoteu Free Wesleyan Church. Both schools identified new toilet facilities and roof leak repairs as urgent needs. Hon. Puloka also visited Montessori Preschool at Tu’atakilangi and ACTs Community School earlier this week.

These visits help parliamentarians pinpoint areas where support from the Constituency Fund (CF) can be allocated to schools.

Additionally, Tongatapu 2 MP Hon. ‘Uhilamoelangi Fasi met with the management of Mata’aho Pre-School, where they requested chairs and tables for teachers. Last year, the pre-school received a water tank provided by the MP and the Tongatapu 2 Constituency Office.

In community projects, Hon. Samiu Vaipulu and Lord Tu’i’afitu supplied sewing machines to women's groups at Fakamelino Hall in Kameli Neiafu. They also presented scholarship funds and lawn mowing machines to the Neiafu District Officer. Meanwhile, Hon. Veivosa donated PCs to Ha’apai Fale‘one Prison and the Moimoi Fakahua of DEW Samaritan Group.

Other MPs, including those from Tongatapu 4, ‘Eua 11, Ha’apai 12, and Tongatapu 1, 2, and 6, have been conducting public forums in their electorates. Tonight, Tongatapu 5 MP Hon. Dr. ‘Aisake Eke will meet with residents of Te’ekiu at Alai Pulotu Hall.

Most legislators are concluding their parliamentary visits before the Legislative Assembly reconvenes next Thursday.
