THE former Whole House Committee Chairperson of the Legislative Assembly has been sworn in as the new Minister for Internal Affairs (MIA) in Parliament this morning.
Hon. Penisimani Fifita was appointed to the new Cabinet portfolio last Friday.
In Parliament today, the new Minister thanked the Almighty God for the blessings he had bestowed upon him and he pledges to perform his utmost for the whole of Tonga.
Hon. Fifita also thanked the Hon. Prime Minister and Cabinet for his new appointment as the new Minister of Internal Affairs (MIA).
The former teacher told Parliament his new appointment is to represent men and women in Tonga from the Niuas to the whole of Tonga.
Hon. Fifita who is also the Tongatapu 9 constituency MP also called on parliamentarian to collaborate and work together to move Tonga forward.
He replaces the former MIA Minister Fe’ao Vakata who resigned over allegation of misbehaving while in office.
Meanwhile the Legislative Assembly has yet to elect the new Chairperson of the Whole House Committee.
