The Prime Minister Hon. Hu’akavameiliku in a press conference with the local media on Wednesday May 18th announced that starting on Monday 23rd of May 2022, all secondary school students will return to their classrooms. Forms 1,3 and 4 will join forms 2,5,6 and 7 who were already back at school. Meanwhile pre-schools, kindergartens and primary schools’ students up to class 6 will continue learning from home taking their lessons from the radio.
Hon. Hu’akavameiliku also announced that the curfew will move from 11pm to 12am. The new curfew will come into effect as of 5:01am on Saturday, May 21st ,2022 for two weeks.
The quarantine and isolation period will also be reduced to five days starting from the next repatriation flight. Hon. Minister of Health praised the work that is being done by the Ministry of Health and the stake holders in reducing the number of positive cases to remain under 100 positive cases in the last three weeks.
Vaccination rates continue to stand at 98% for the 1st dose, 91% for 2nd dose and 58% for Booster dose.
Vaccination for children between the ages of five and 11 years stands at 41%.
