The Legislative Assembly of Tonga this morning witnessed two new MPs take their oath in Parliament. They are the Ha’apai 12 MP, Mo’ale Finau, who won Ha’apai 12’s recent by-election and the new Finance and National Planning Minister Hon. Tiofilusi Tiueti.
The Hon. Minister of Finance also joined the Tongatapu number 1 Nobles Representative, Lord Vaea who is now the Hon. Minister of Internal Affairs take their oath as Cabinet Ministers.
All swore to obey and abide by the Constitution of Tonga and to perform their best for the King and for the good of the country.
The Hon. Prime Minister Siaosi Sovaleni also announced the newly appointed Ministers in his Cabinet. The PM was elated to also announce the King’s recent appointment of Vava’u 15 MP, Hon. Samiu Vaipulu as Tonga’s Deputy Prime Minister which came into effect on 1 September 2022.
Lord Vaea was recently appointed by His Majesty King Tupou VI as the Hon. Minister of Internal Affairs (MIA). His appointment also came into effect on September 1st.
The PM said the Hon. Finance and National Planning Minister Hon. Tiofilusi Tiueti was also appointed effective on October 17.
After the sworn in ceremony the House continued their agenda which included Amendment Bills, Standing Committee Reports and Petitions.
