“Appointment of Governors to the Outer Islands”

The Office of the Prime Minister is pleased to announce that Mr Pita Faiva Taufatofua of Kotu and Tongoleleka, Ha’apai has been appointed Governor for Ha’apai, with effect on 28th December, 2021.

Mr. Taufatofua, has now succeeded the former incumbent, Mr. Viliami Manuopangai Hingano.

Furthermore, the Lord Fakatulolo has been re-appointed as Governor of Vava’u.

Pursuant to clause 54 of the Tongan Constitution it states, “The King shall appoint Governors to Ha’apai and Vava’u on the advice of the Prime Minister”.
