THE Legislative Assembly last night passed the Appropriation Act with amendments for the 2024/25 Financial Year.
This follows the third reading of the Appropriation Bill in the Assembly with a 21-0 vote.
The 2024/25 Appropriation Act 2024 is to appropriate public money of TOP$664,210800 to the services of Government effective on July 1.
The money to be appropriated must be spent according to the purposes stated in the Act. The authority to spend or incur expenses or liabilities will end on 30 June 2025.
Government’s national budget theme for FY 2024/25 is "prioritizing its greatest assets - the people of Tonga to building a strong and inclusive society where every individual can thrive."
The Minister of Finance Hon.Tiofilusi Tiueti told Parliament, Government and donor development partners will fund the TOP$899.2 million balanced budget.
