THE Legislative Assembly of Tonga has been adjourned until next Monday to allow the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to complete their report regarding the Budget Estimates 2024/25.
Lord Speaker Fakafanua made the announcement after Chairman of PAC, Hon. Dr. ‘Aisake Eke reported in Parliament this morning they have completed all the work assigned to them for screening the Estimates, Budget Statement, Corporate Plan, and other related matters in relation to the Budget.
However, he added the Committee secretariat is finishing the report before its submission to the Clerk of Parliament tomorrow. The PAC Report will then be tabled for discussion in Parliament.
The Committee have been working for two weeks on the Budget assignment referred from the Legislative Assembly following the first reading of the Appropriation Bill on 23 May 2024.
Meanwhile, PAC work on the Auditor General’s Draft Work Plan for 2024/25 is still ongoing.
